Putting Equity into Action on National Disability Day for the disabled
 
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD), observed annually on December 3rd, was established by the UN in 1992 to promote disability rights, social inclusion, and accessibility worldwide. In China, National Disability Day (The third Sunday of May) further strengthens these efforts through local advocacy.
 
As we approach the 32nd National Disability Day (May 18), Hanrui Puzer demonstrates the warmth of an inclusive workplace by welcoming a group of special new colleagues. Upon learning that 30+ employees with disabilities faced unemployment due to a company relocation, we immediately partnered with local authorities to launch our "Compassionate Employment Initiative." We pledged to provide stable jobs and tailored career paths for all willing workers.
 
As a company with social responsibility, we would like to receive those disability employees for a better contribution to this society, which also give them more self-confidence and esteem to move onto a more brighter future.


Our "Dignity in Employment" program includes:

  • Executive-level planning for customized role assignments ("one person, one suitable position")

  • Full workplace accessibility upgrades (wheelchair ramps, handrails, etc.)

  • Equal pay/benefits matching able-bodied colleagues

  • Specialized training (e.g., visual work systems for hearing-impaired staff, ergonomic stations for mobility impairments)

A deaf employee signed: "My colleagues' support helps me grow. Thank you for believing my hands can create value too."
 

The significance of the Day for Assisting the Disabled lies in making every day an equal day.

 

Disability Day reminds us to make every day about equality. Inclusion isn't just responsibility—it's the measure of civilization. We'll keep fulfilling our "Equality & Respect" pledge to nurture workplaces where warmth and value coexist.
